EDUCATION

Currently Studying Costume Construction for Screen and Stage at University of Glamorgan – Third Year
During the time I have been studying on this course, I have learnt new techniques and ways to make garments, I have learnt about different types of fabrics and their qualities and how to act and work in a professional environment.

Work Experience carried out during this course – I have worked with Mappa Mundi Theatre Company on two of their productions ‘She Stoops To Conquer’ and ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ making the costumes, carrying out fittings and buying all the fabrics for the costumes.
Also during my first year I worked with the Welsh National Youth Opera on their production of ‘Sweeney Todd’ altering costumes that were originally made for other productions and helping out backstage during the performance.
At the beginning of my second year I worked with The National Dance Company of Wales and made costumes for a one night performance in St Davids Hall with some of their junior dancers. I worked with them again later on in the year with their professional dancers and the designers from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on another one of their productions.
Over the first two years of the course, during the summer, I took part in a BBC training scheme called ‘Its My Shout’ where I was part of the costume department. The first year I was a trainee and worked on 4 of the 6 short films that were made, buying and sourcing the costumes. For the second year I was the Head of Costume for the filming of two of the films and was in charge of two trainees for each film and helped them to buy and source the costumes and show them what to do and what not to do on set.
