Third Year - Final Major Project - Oliver

 Oliver

Mr. Brownlow

Nancy

 Fagin

Artful Dodger

For my Final Major Project at the end of my third year I made 5 of the costumes from the film Oliver. I chose the characters I wanted to make and designed the costumes after researching real life people of the victorian era. I chose these characters because I thought it was a good combination of men, women, adults, children, rich and poor.

Welsh National Youth Opera - Sweeney Todd - June 2009

This is one of the garments I altered and reshaped to look victorian and to be the right size for the actress. Here you can see the before and after shots.

Mappa Mundi Theatre Company - Dangerous Liaisons - January 2010

This was my second time working with this company and this is the dress I made from start to finish.

Millinery Project - December 2009

As part of my second year of my course, I made two hats in two weeks. The top images being the hat made out of buckram and the bottom is the hat made of felt.

National Dance Company of Wales - September 2009

I made six of these dresses for different size girls for a performance in St. Davids Hall.

It's My Shout - BBC Trainee Scheme - June 2009

I was involved in this BBC training scheme and was one of the costume trainees of 4 of the 7 films that were made. Sourcing costumes and continuity were the main skills I gained from this experience.

Mappa Mundi Theatre Company - She Stoops To Conquer - May 2009

For one of the dresses for the show, this blue stripe fabric had to be printed with a pink floral design. This image above shows the process of screen printing the fabric.

A week before the costumes had to be finished we found out we had to dye all the under garments to be worn in an extra scene, and other costumes had to be broken down and dyed to be made to look old and dirty. A process that was thoroughly enjoyable.

The Future - January 2009

This costume was inspired by the subject of the future. My take on this was to look at future fashion, in particular recycled clothing. It is a recreation of this Gary Harvey dress below made from 30 copies of the financial times.
